Labor, Development & Policy evaluation
Labor, Development & Policy evaluation, the second of a series of four free programs, created by Federica Web Learning in collaboration with DISES, the Department of Economics and Statistics of the Federico II University, is now online.
Each program is born from the experience of the teachers of the Master in Economics and Finance (MEF) offered by the Naples School of Economics of the DISES.Following on from the first cluster of courses in “Finance”, which registered more than three hundred students in less than three months, this second cluster is aimed at young students and professionals in the financial sector who wish to further their knowledge of models for labor and development economics.
From microeconomics to the analysis of public policies, from the study of real cases to the most useful and efficient tools for managing large databases, the Program includes five free courses:
Methods for data analysis
Master data analysis and statistical modeling for economics and finance. Learn advanced techniques & R
Microeconometrics
How does the cause and effect relationship works in economics: Master the ability to answer fundamental questions with the most used methods
Labor economics
Learn how labor market works, get the tools for analyze the trend of wages and employment
Development Economics
Learn about poverty, social protection, financial services and income generation using micro-economic tools and real-world case studies
Tools for Data Analysis
A practical manual for data analysis in finance: the most in-demand programming languages for data science and lots of practice
Interactive video lessons, case studies, in-depth readings, practice with the most useful software for data analysis, characterize the five courses of the program, which are available online in asynchronous mode free of charge. A certificate is awarded for successful completion of the program, or individual courses.
The program offers a solid knowledge of the fundamental models of labor and development economics. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of labor and development policies, as well as expertise in evaluating their outcomes using appropriate methodologies.
Upon completion of the program, students will possess the necessary skills to apply theoretical and empirical tools to address specific issues in both development economics and labor economics. All courses are accessible in asynchronous mode through outstanding academic and interactive video lectures, in-depth readings, links, quizzes and learning activities. At the end of each course or program it will be possible to gain a certificate.
2nd PhD and Post-Doctoral Workshop
The workshop aims to bring together young researchers from all areas of economics and finance to allow participants to receive feedback on their research and promote networking among them sharing experiences, research ideas and, plans for future activities.
The two-day workshop will consist of sessions where selected authors present their own research. Each paper will be assigned a discussant, and authors may be asked to discuss a paper related to their research field.
PhD and Post-Doctoral students are invited to submit their paper or extended abstract to nseworkshopunina@gmail.com. Submissions in any field of economics and finance are welcome. Please specify the file name in the following format: “surname_name_title.pdf”.
The submission deadline is May 31st, 2023. The authors of the selected papers will be notified by July 2023.
Keynote Speakers
Matteo Paradisi
He is Assistant Professor at the Einaudi Institute of Economics and Finance (EIEF). He was post-doctoral fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). He obtained his PhD in Economics from Harvard University in 2019.
Irene Monasterolo
She is Full Professor of Climate Finance at EDHEC Business School, Research Programme Director of the EDHEC-Risk Climate Impact Institute. She is Senior Research Fellow at Vienna University of Economics and Business and Boston University. She obtained her PhD in Agri-food Economics and Statistics from the University of Bologna in 2012.
